Yeah I've used a lighter grey on the manifolds in the family
pathfinder (circa 1997). The OEM manifolds were known for cracking
even after installing the 'new and improved' designs. Since I had to
purchase my second set from the parts counter, since the suv was out
of factory warrantee after 18 months, and the new piece came
un-painted, I had a local shop ceramic coat them. To this day, they
still look good and have not cracked even though the Path' has gone
157,000 miles since I put them on.
I just keep wondering if this vendors ideology has merit.
