Good point. A couple of those are in my kit too.
Also some cable ties--friend of mine broke his throttle cable on his Duc while we were touring and we rigged it with a cable tie. Got us the 100mi to the Duc shop to replace it.
Pair of vice grips are in my kit. Seen those made into a shift lever.
