Re: [ST] Torque spec on RS rear wheel?
Well, I'm also guilty of guessing too. However the day my rear axle nut was loose and I rode 30 miles that way, I decided that I'm not a good guesser of
81 ft-lbs of torque so I went and bought an inexpensive one from Northern tool.
Interesting driving with a rear wheel that slides up and down the swing arm. LOL When I was close to home I heard the tire rub the rear hugger when I accelerated. Then I knew something was off. Luckily it didn't literally come off, and lucky it is a DSSA.
It felt strange but I couldn't put my finger on it until I got homw and looked around. Then I felt the nut and I wwas able to turn it with my finger. DOUGH!

Interesting that this subject comes up from time to time.
The only time I've used a torque wrench is for putting an engine head back on
and re tightening it after a few km's.
Dead reckoning for everything else and I've never snapped a bolt off. And no
they are not left to loose.
Each to their own I guess.
Brett.
