Hey Newbie, sorry to call you that but I didnt see a name. From your email
address I'm guessing it could be Erik or Erika???
Anyway, welcome!
A hot seat has always been a bit of a thing with the Sprint ST. I have a '99
and I'm pretty sure that its the same for the all successive models. Despite
having the exhaust way down by the back wheel, and big holes in the side
fairings, the heat from the motor tends to get ducted under the seat and make it
quite warm. On long trips on warm days (30+ degrees C) in summer, cruising
between 100 - 150kmph, I have perfected the technique of standing up to allow some
airflow around the nether regions. This also helps to get blood flowing in the
legs again, extending the time in the saddle. After five years on this bike I
guess I am just used to it.
I notice on the '05 that they have heat sheilding between the pipes and the
seat. From your experience it seems that it has little effect.
Does anyone know how other manufacturers get around this?
Cheers,
Brett
