I don't push start a bike in first, I try to use 3rd if I can.
Let's look at this another way. How much engine braking do you get in
6th? or 1st? Which one will slide the wheel if you dump the clutch
while going too fast? That's the gear that allows the engine to provide
the most resistance to turning.
