Pete,
Welcome to the list. (Here I am welcoming you to the list, and I've only
been on it for a few weeks myself. Duh.)
I've not needed to replace a chain yet, so I have no specific replacement
brand recommendations. I believe the stock chain is a Tsubaki, but I could
be wrong. Any of the better-known brands will do fine. Gold colored ones
make your bike go faster, however. ;-)
It is highly recommended that you replace sprockets at the same time. My RS
has a Suntour aluminum rear as the stock unit. Because aluminum is so much
softer and wears quicker than steel, all the more reason to follow the
recommendation. I don't know what's on the ST's for stock sprockets. I
should suggest though, that 15,000 miles is somewhat short life. There are a
number of causes for this, so watch the proper care and tension of your new
one. Most good, modern O-ring chains will last over 20,000 miles if well
cared for and not abused.
Good luck!
Ken M.
