Re: Darren's problem with engine cut-out rolling into his driveway. I have
read about this happening to other riders on this net and it has happened to
me a couple of times. It seems to be a "too lean" condition. It's also true
that as soon as the engine cuts out the oil press. warning light will go on
immediately so the low oil pressure is apparently the symptom - not the
disease. Nevertheless, I would experiment VERY carefully by riding slowly
close by home just seeing what happens before riding all the way to the
dealer's. Wouldn't hurt to call the service mgr. at the dealer's and ask him
about this also. However, the occasional "slowing down to idle coming into a
parking spot" stalling is apparently not a unique thing.
Am using an Escort "Solo" battery powered radar detector. The factory will
charge $39.95 for an earphone jack mod to the unit and $9.00 for their own
earphone.
For mounting the Solo I use a SAENG mount. I have ST bars on my RS but also
used the SAENG mount on the original RS bars. The mount replaces the
aft-most of the 2 bolts securing the left bar into the triple tree. Slightly
different mounting position for ST vs. RS bars, same hole. Just sent a lot
of pix to Paul @ Saeng showing the mount. Very secure and doesn't obscure
any instruments. Costs around $80.00 but don't purchase the optional
securing strap: it's a waste of $5.00 and more importantly makes removing the
detector more cumbersome. The unit is protected by the windscreen and is out
of the airflow. The velcro mount is probably good to way above the bike's
top speed capability. Speak to Paul at Saeng if you call and mention my
name. He will be very familiar with the set-up as we had several
conversations during the installs.
Still using the Daytona single piece shifter and won't go back to the
original. Hermy's stocks these and they're very nice to deal with. Ask for
Curt.
Just LOVE the Two Brothers slip-on. Sounds like a real motorcycle but not
obnoxiously loud. Pulls like a mother and winds up much "freer". The
polished aluminum small (C2) can looks very nice. You can spend more for the
CF or titanium or X-metal (nickel over CF) but the "cheapie" option works
just fine. Two Brothers is also very nice to work with - you can get a real
live person on the phone. Hermy's also do these.
