Sprockets

Folks,
With all the recent postings concerning final drive ratios and numbers =
of gear teeth, just remember that it is always better to adjust the =
ratio by changing the size of the rear wheel sprocket, rather than the =
countershaft sprocket. Going to a smaller countershaft sprocket in =
order to increase the final drive ratio puts additional stress on the =
chain because the circumference of the countershaft sprocket is reduced. =
A better method of accomplishing the same objective is to go with a =
larger rear sprocket. In addition, you can make much more subtle =
changes to your ratio by simply adding one or two teeth to the rear =
sprocket.
