Re: [St] Getting the Bikes
Well that solved the oil change issue didn't it!
One tip, speeding with a trailer generally isn't a great idea,
especially if it has undersized tires. Don't know if Texas has the
same law (for some reason I doubt it) but in California you're
limited to 55mph when towing a trailer. This is actively enforced (I
know this from experience, when I got cited while towing my Tornado
Red Sprint ST).
The better reason is that as you found out, small trailer tires
generate a fair amount of heat and can fail. Back around 2000 I took
my Sprint to Thunderhill for a track day. I rented a U-Haul garden
trailer to tow the bike up there, the kind that has a don't exceed
45mph sticker on it. On the way back one other lister (who I forget
his name) that also used the same type of trailer to tow his black
Sprint up there, wizzed past me on the freeway doing 65. I was
plugging along at 55mph.
Just like the rabbit and the tortoise fable, I soon caught up to him
as he was stranded on the side of the road with a blown out trailer
tire.
Glad you got them home safe, and Richard must be going crazy knowing
those are sitting in the garage.

I learned several things on this trip. One, men do not like to be
passed by two women hauling a trailer with two motorcycles on it.
They tend to speed up as you go by them ;-). Two, a tire on a
trailer can "release" part of is threads and not go flat
(thankfully!!!!). This happened while we were going south on I-35W
in Fort Worth. I saw (and of course felt) the "alligator strip" go.
