?It was 1975 and I jump started my '74?Datsun truck from my wife's '70 firebird and right after the truck started the "ALT" light came on. I took it the next day to the local starter/generator/alternator rebuilder (we had those back then) and the tech. told me that upon testing the diodes were "blown" he also said that their (Datsun/Japanese) diodes weren't as robust as the ones used by GM.
