The woman involved in the car accident that resulted in the death of
41-year-old Frisco attorney Richard McKennon on Feb. 26, 2006, was
sentenced to four years in prison Friday.

Barbara Ripa, 41, was convicted of a felony manslaughter charge Thursday
by a Collin County jury.

McKennon was fatally injured when Ripaâs SUV turned left in front of his
motorcycle while he was traveling on Preston Road, according to police. He
was later pronounced dead at Centennial Medical Center in Frisco.

He is survived by his wife, Kayla, and four children, Matt, Meagan,
Alyssa, and Kendall.

Kayla McKennon said Fridayâs sentencing gave her a sense of closure.

âI think it was a fair sentence,â she said. âI am glad it was prison time
and not probation. I hope this gives her the opportunity to get the help
she needs â I donât have to think about her doing this to someone else.â
Ripaâs attorney H. Ownby declined to comment.
