Very well! The old bike must have been showing signs of 22K miles,
as the new one is like riding a new / better model (even though it is
probably a slightly older version of bike: although registered six
months after the old bike, it seems to actually be an 02 spec
model). Mostly it is same riding experience, but I'm sure the brakes
are sharper, the gearbox / clutch definately smoother, throttle
linkage easier on wrist... goes faster etc. :D Even the ScotOiler is
better - having the 'split' dispenser that drops oil on both sides of
chain...
My panniers, gel seat, autocom and HC reservoir for ScotOiler that I
salvaged from old bike are now on new bike which is also a good
thing. And this week I've finally had a decent offer from the
insurance company for my old ST (£4450 - just £50 shy of what I paid
for the 'new' ST'03).
So generally a very happy riding experience. Less good are the
original Bridgestone's (BT57) which are nearing end of life, and
white-line like crazy. I am lining up to replace with Michelin Road
Pilots soon (or Avon A45/46s perhaps). And of course the stock
lights still in place that I hope to replace soonest too.
Not yet had chance to do a really long ride - but maybe early
November I'll get around to getting away for a weekend. If I do I'll
do a mini ride-report.
Regards
Gavin Lawrie
