Re: [ST] other topic: world cup



What I meant was that beer/liquor is the great evil to way too many people
in this country (prohibition anybody ?) and hence they pack it in brown
paper bags when you buy it, why you cant drink a nice pint outside a
pub/bar on a nice summer night and the like...but riding without a helmet
and filling our kids with junk food and drugs is well,  OK it seems.

Pubs is about the only thing (outside of family) I miss about blighty -
it's so nice just to go to a nice country pub and have a pint or 2 (or
shandy if driving/riding) in the summer.

I don't think it originated in America.  The people who left Britain
probably brought it with them.  Plus I think the Europeans were making it
long before America was created.  Take the Germans for instance ;-)
