Dear Jeremy,

I would say no. The heat wouldn't be that dramatic to cause it to
change.

Thanks
Chris

Thanks for the info.

Regarding the heat, since it's a bike, the uncoated remaining pipe is
only about 8" before it reaches the muffler. Does that change your
explanation at all regarding extra heat?

Dear Jeremy,

The price quoted ($135) was to coat the header in&out fully. Unless
there is a baffle set up in the header, we can coat the pipes inside.
Many companies in the market today can only coat parts on the outside.
By coating in&out, it provides better corrosion protection and helps to
drop the skin temperature better.

The heat that is keep in the header is pushed back into the exhaust. The
heat is typically radiated though the uncoated pipes. By the time it
gets to the end, the heat is just about the same or slightly higher
(depending on the length of the pipes).

Thanks
Chris

I've been doing further research and asking folks who've had the work
done and have some more questions for you. All responses were positive,
by the way.

First, I was under the assumption the coating was external only.
Someone pointed out the process can also be internal and external. I'm
not clear now on what the $135 entails.

Second, since I dropped out of Thermodynamics before I failed it
altogether, the "burning" question is: where does the heat that used to
radiate off the header pipe end up? Hotter muffler? Hotter engine at
the exhaust side?

Thanks,
Jeremy Witt

Dear Jeremy,

You are correct. The sterling silver is the base coat. The Jet Hot 2000
can take a higher temperature but isn't as great at reducing the skin
temperatures vs. the sterling silver.

Thanks

So then Sterling Silver coating is the least expensive and the most
effective and reducing heat output?

Thanks,
