Re: [ST] Re: Fast idle
Hey Barry,
An engine will run better when the air temperature is cooler. I'm no mechanic, so perhaps one can explain it better, but as I understand it, when the air temp is cooler the air is denser and the engine can breathe better. So when the weather is warmer its more difficult. Ever noticed how hard it is to breathe on really hot days?
Of course this only applies within an acceptable range. To hot or to cold and nothing works!
Brett.

Thanks for that Chris. I've been debating whether to report exactly the same
thing with my bike over the last few days - with the return to cooler weather in
the UK, the warm idle in traffic has calmed down a lot. Almost too much in fact
- before the engine gets up to working temperature the idle can be down below
1000 now, nearly stalling. I have it booked into my nearest Triumph specialist
dealer (Taylors in Taunton) for a look-see in 10 days time, and will report back
in due course....
On a related topic (sorta), has anyone else noticed their engine running better
when the air is cool and misty? I reckon it gets both smoother and torquier
under such conditions.
Barry, 2000 RS
