I can get the PR's from ridgear.com for $219.90. Take wheels off and
take them to stealer. Add $72 for mounting and balancing. Total comes
to $291.90. Or I can take it to the dealer, pay $310 and ride a bike
while someone else takes the rims off, mounts and balances the tires and
puts them back on. Savings if I were to do it myself: $18.10.
See my point? Maybe I wasn't clear. Cost is $310 for front and rear.

I understand convenience, but if you can get a tire to your door for
under $135 (www.ridegear.com courtesy of Richard M!), pop the rear wheel
off yourself (centerstand?), that's still a savings of $140 (check my
math!).

I don't get that, in only ~2400 miles with my '03 I've seen at least
two power
lifts that I know of, and I wasn't trying to do anything other than
power out
of some beautiful NC mountain curves!
I agree w/ you on the 57's, WTF did '03s come with those when they had
long
been replaced by 020s?
Ok, dreaded question: what are you replacing with? I was thinking
Avons until
all the positive talk about the Pilot Roads hit...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
First, I don't consider it a wheelie if the tire is just hovering
above
the ground. I can do that at will... I also don't TRY to wheelie
very
hard. But the only way I've been able to get the front wheel off the
ground is to chop the throttle at about 4500-5000 in first and then
crack it open full. This gets the front about a foot off the ground...
I guess you could call that a wheelie. And I've NEVER been able to
lift
the front in second...
Replacement wise, I'm not sure. My three choices are Avon 45/46, Me
Z6, or Pirelli Diablo Strada. My local Triumph dealer will install
any
of the three for the same price ($310). I'd buy online, but I get
raped on mounting ($35/wheel loose, $70/wheel on the bike). This
means
that if I were to bring the tires in, I'm paying about the same price.
Also, I'll be able to ride in, take a bike for a demo, come back and
have new tires... Convenience makes it worth it to me.
Has anyone tried the Diablo Stradas?
