Great news! I managed to get the bottom of the switch off and a well-
placed digi pic showed generally what the damage was.
Do I need a front stand to pull off the top yoke? I was in the
process of pulling off the whole front to get better access- perhaps
I won't need to do that
Both were fixed with a few minutes work with a soldering iron and
some heat shrink.
