They can carry more corner speed because of their lighter weight. That
weight translates into less force pushing outward during a corner at a
given speed. So if the force to break the traction of the tire needs to
be "x", that amount of force is achieved at a higher speed due to their
lighter weight.
The "better handling" of a narrower tire is the quicker turning and turn
in due to the tires profile.

Interesting. I didn't realize a narrower rear tyre improves handling.
Maybe that explains why 125's and 250's can carry more corner speed than
the diesels.

Also most DSSA rigs come equipped with a narrower wheel than the
SSSA bikes allowing the use of a narrower tire, which further
improves the handling. It's a win-win situation.
