I think it depends to a large extent on the insurance
company.  I was afraid that my wish to go from the RS to the
Blackbird would not be possible because I figured the
insurance would be astronomic.  When I checked with my
insurance agent, that turned out to not be the case; the '03
Blackbird (140 rear wheel hp) costs me $20 per year more
than the RS: full coverage is $454. I'd suggest checking
with Allstate (my carrier), but they do not write new
policies on bikes anymore, so if you don't already have one,
you can't get one.  I do know that they will not insure any
bike on their "super bike" list, but I don't know what that
list entails.
