The '04 RS is not an addendum to the '03 RS production run.  They are titled
as '04 models, period.  They are refered to as '04 Sprint RS's by Triumph
and with a limited availability.  The '04 RS IS a "last hurrah" bike for
that model. The RS IS history sometime early this year when the current crop
are gone.  No doubt about it. It also IS a "parts bin" bike.

Let's look at that parts bin.  The tank, the seat, tail section, wheels,
tires, swing arm, forks, and engine are EXACTLY the same as the ST - '02,
'03 or '04.  In fact, just about the only thing that makes it an RS is the
front fender, fairing, instrument panel, bars and no center stand.  If I
would have had the choice, I would have gotten a dual sided swing arm for
purely performance reasons; however there is rationale for the SSSA other
than esthetics - there are more, and will be more SSSA parts in the pipeline
than the RS DSSA.    Considering the cost of the components to make a DSSA
are usually significantly less than a SSSA, it is probable that the '04
cost, if you sum individual components, is more than that of an '03 RS, BUT
sold at a lower out the door price.

All I know is that at the price I got it for I don't care.  It won't replace
my ST but I'll fun breaking it in for my son.
