Re: [ST] License tests

Ahhhh, memories.

July 11, 1969. My 14th birthday. A Honda CL-90, (on which I had been
blasting around on dirt trails and cow pastures for the previous six months)
was my ride. After the written portion, the "street" test consisted of a
DPS officer out in a parking lot directing me though various cone
configurations. There was no wheelie component to the test, and my Dad
reminded me of that :) "Passed" with a sideward glance from the officer
(he knew). Just another long-haired hippy freak on a motorcycle.

I didn't disappoint my tester. Over the next 2 years, 12 citations
(speeding mostly), we didn't have a points system back then. Funny to think
that over those 2 years I rode over 20 thousand miles, and progressed from
the CL-90 to a Bridgestone 100-TMX, to a Bridgestone 200-GT, and on my 16th
birthday, rolled off on a "Cherry Bomb", 1970 Kawasaki 500 Mach III (H-1).
And yes, I paid for it myself, 400 bucks of paper route money. To this day,
the best 400 dollars I've ever spent.

happy trails,
