Hello John and everyone:
I just addressed this issue on the Hinckley
Triumph Digest this morning. I believe that we
have a fellow ST Digester that has about 110K
miles on his ST.
I have a '00 Blue ST that was purchased new on
November 29, 1999. I just had the 30K service done
last week. I ride five days a week, all seasons
and temps. Still have the original battery that
cranks perfectly and not one mechanical complaint.
I have changed my front fork internals to Racetech
springs and emulators, added the European
head/tailight switch, added the rear Tri hugger &
chain guard and changed my windscreen to a "double
bubble" style aftermarket unit. I have replaced
the rear brake pads twice, fronts pads once and
use OEM pads with no complaints or problems with
the rotors. I replaced the stock Regina chain with
a DID gold x-ring chain a year and 9 months ago.
Still have the original sprockets which look new.
I take very good care of my machine and it takes
very good care of me. The bike is rock solid at
any speed. I get 43 to 46 miles to the gallon at
high speeds (80- 100 mph).
Happy holidays,
Howard Stephen Serlick
