RE: [ST] Brakes Arrgh! Brakes

I didn't clean the seals with WD-40. I did what the shop told me, and that
was, use WD-40 on a rag and wipe clean the piston. The problem was getting
the piston to expose itself so I could do that. But then even after wiping
it down they still stuck.

I've already changed my tires, replaced my sprockets and chain. I've
disassembled a lawnmower engine, replaced the CAM and put it back together
without a manual. I've disassembled a carb to my wife's old scooter,
cleaned the parts and put it back together without a manual. I'd say I'm
not too mechanically stupid. I just need to make sure I have all the facts
before I tackle a job. The initial email may have sounded stupid but it
would have been too long it I went into every boring detail.

Having said that, with a couple of pistons already out the job doesn't look
too difficult to put new seals in. My only question is do I need to
disassemble the whole caliper or can I do it with the two halves in
together? The Triumph manual is useless in this matter.

. . .and all remaining traces need to be removed with a brake-specific
cleaning product prior to reassembly.
