The BMW does not have a mass air sensor, the only sensor that comes close is a sensor that resides in the air box that checks air temp.If the motronic system finds fault it will go into a mode like the Triumphs limp home mode. I suppose if one was to force the system into a limp mode you could eliminate the posibility of any lean runs.
