I've just replaced a rear BT-020 with another one - simply because I have a
BT-020 on the front with only a 2.5K on it. The replaced rear tyre had
covered 4.5k miles, and while just about on the wear markers at the centre,
it had plenty of edge tread left. I would have left it on for another 500
miles if the bike hadn't been in for a service, and the mechanic did say I
really should change it. It was getting a bit evil in the wet - and we get
a lot of wet in Scotland - as I've mentioned on more than one occasion.
I too was a bit disappointed with this mileage as my Sprint Executive would
show similar wear after 5.5k. Cost to me to supply, fit & balance was £125
(GBP 125), which is about average for the UK. I think I'll give the
Michelins a trial next time or the Avons, but I've always been a
Bridgestone man up till now and like the way they handle wet roads. Anyone
else (in the UK) tried the Avons or Michelins under "normal" summer conditions?
