Ran a Cheng Shin knobby on a mx bike many years ago. The dang thing nearly
knocked a hole in my buddy's cheek when A KNOB CAME FLYING OFF in a rocky
section under heavy acceleration. It ended up in his lap. He had an open
face helmet/goggles on but his lower face was unprotected. What a bruise.
Yeah, they're cheap. And hard. And can be a tad brittle :-(
ST content: I don't mind paying a bit more for more grip and consequently
trading a little longevity for the extra grip. I figure as much as I/we
paid for these bikes what's an extra $150 per year for confidence inspiring
grip? And also the grip to more (emphasis MORE) fully utilize the cornering
capabilities of our Triumphs. I do about 10K mi/year (so that's where the
$150 per year figure came from - outta my a**)
