[ST] effect on tach?

<... Many of their claims are way off. For example,
<they list "Motorcycle sprocket (gear ratio) changes" as one reason you'd
<need one. That's odd, because sprocket changes affect your tach, not your
<speedo. Same with "Performance cars with modified gearing". LOL! Oh yeah,
<"Off-road vehicles with special wheels". When was the last time that you
<were off-road and gave a hoot what your speed was?

Changing gearing has no effect whatsoever on your tach. The tach measures
engine RPM and doesn't give a rat about gearing. Changing gearing also will
not effect the speedo since it is driven off the front wheel. What will
change is the relationship between the tach (RPM) and speedo (MPH). But they
both will continue with the same errors that were originally there. Changing
front tire size will affect the speedo on a Triumph.
On the other hand, all motorcycles do not drive off the front wheel, some
drive off the rear wheel and some drive off the tranny. Changing gearing or
rear tire size on these will effect any speedo error. They do not affect the
tach, either, however
People who run oversize tires on their pick-m-up trucks would like to have
more accurate speedos, so the Yellow box is handy for them. All off road
vehicles are not driven 100% off road.
Bare.
