Matt,
Yes, same problem. I resolved it by removing the offending retainer wire
loop. Then I took a 10-12" cable tie and looped it around the cable and an
upper mounting tab for the side faring. Kinda hard to explain exactly where
the tab is. It's on the right side about 1/2 the length of the tank
attached to the upper frame, holds the main side panel. If you loop the
cable tie around it and the cable, then cinch up slowing to the right amount
of tension, it works perfectly.
Routing of the cable should be behind/below the ignition switch where it
mounts through the triple clamp.
