Speedo accuracy

Having at last fitted the GPS to my bike(
http://www.unicorn-k9.fsnet.co.uk/gps.html ) I have found that the
speedometer accuracy is bordering on the limit for what is considered
acceptable.
There is a >10% error - the speedo reads high - I was beginning to wonder
why car drivers were trying to crawl up my exhaust whilst I was observing
speed limits in 40mph zones.
Thus at a true speed (according to NASA) of 70mph the speedo indicates
nearly 80mph; at a true speed of 40mph the speedo reads 47mph.
Hmmph...... has anyone else had experience of this??
