I have been a auto technician 20+ years, ( Honda, Acura ). I do all my own
maintenance and repairs on my bikes. I change my XR440R oil every 200mi. Of course
it's air cooled, big bored, and gets punished every time I ride it. As for my
previous M/C's and my new
'00 ST. They get new synthetic every 1500mi. ANY oil gets dirty. My cars get new
oil ( petroleum based ) every 3000mi. You should see the difference inside a
motor if you change every 3k vs every 7.5k as per auto manufacturer
recommendation. 3k= silver and new 7.5k= black and tarnished. M/C's add
transmission stress and clutch material. You make the choice. It's a small price
to pay if you want long term engine reliability.
