dropped - oil smoke

Dropped my st again last night, this makes 3 times in a year....

Was at a fastfood joint going through the drivethru and was reaching back to
get my wallet when I must have put my foot down in some oil or something as
I just started going over on the left side.  Managed to lay it down VERY
gently and was surprised to see there was NO damage other than a very tiny
scratch or two, so small as to not bother me at all as you'd have to know
where to look to find them.  Upon starting the bike back up huge clouds of
smoke came out the back, obviously oil got into the engine where it's not
supposed to go.

I remember the Triumph rep at the TSRA rally telling me about this sort of
thing but can't remember exactly what the cause was and if this was
something that needed to be checked out now or not.  Anybody know?  Is it
safe to run it out or do I need to haul it in to the dealer?
