Accessing the backside of the Speedo

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the best way to get at the backside of the speedo. It
appears I have to completely disassemble the fairing to get anywhere near
it. I just got my replacement drive from the dealer and can only get just
under the speedo, where the headlight frame blocks my way. How do you remove
the instrument panel? I just spent $123 on the drive (and it is still in the
bag). I am trying to avoid buying (and waiting for) a service manual.
I have enjoyed riding without it. It is "no guilt", as I ride how it
feels right, instead of looking at the speedo and going "uh oh, better back
off"! Of course, if I get a ticket again (got a 45 in a 30 MPH (Wowee!) in
May), I will think otherwise. Plus, I don't have an odo either, and that is
definitely not good, since I have to rely on the gas (petrol) gauge.
I saw the BRGreen Sprint ST at the dealers. Whiners! Stop complaining.
It, as all our fellow STs is beautiful. I'd like to see it out in the
sunlight , though. Another color (colour) to add to the rainbow coalition!
Dangerous black, passionate red, deep blue and gorgeous green! Collect 'em
all. It's them dang freakin' Hondas, Suzukis and Kawasakis that are the butt
ugly colors (and goofy graphics). Of course, I think a Ural Sportsman
(especially the 2 wheel drive one) looks cool, so what do I know?
Also, quit complaining about the RAT club. Just don't pay the ($65) fee
when it comes up for renewal. That'll show 'em!
Ciao,
Bob - '99 red ST
