Punctures?

I came back from a rather, er, 'spirited' ride to Boxhill today, and as I
peeled off for home the Bandit I'd been jousting with came past and tried to
signal something, but then blasted off up another road. So I got home and
parked up and went for a cuppa. About an hour later I came out to find the
back tyre totally flat! The back wheel turned out to be easy to remove, and
my local dealer was able to plug it, he thought pretty well.

2 questions though: 1) how safe are plugs, really, and 2) has anyone else
had a puncture that early in the life of a tyre? I'm on BT020s, and I've
done about 2100 miles now.

I was celebrating because I've managed to sell my Bros. That's a Hawk to you
guys in the US. In a way I'm sad because I loved the bike, but at least it
goes part way to paying off on the RS...

...which is still beautiful. More or less run in now - still a bit tight
above 8000, but I'm still more than happy to surf along on the torque at
4-6000 most of the time. When Bandits aren't giving chase anyway!
