Winterizing/Oil Level

Since it's that time of the year again in the frozen tundra we call
Minnesota, I figure it's about time to start thinking about winterizing the
bike.

With past bikes, I've changed the oil, lifted the tires off the ground,
filled the tank full (to prevent condensation), removed the battery, and
drained the carbs.

With the ST, I plan on washing/waxing, changing the oil, lifting the tires
off of the ground, filling the tank, and placing the battery on a trickle
charger. I didn't plan on using Stabilizer. Should I? What brand? Any
thoughts on either filling the tank all the way or running it dry. Is it
better to remove the battery all together?

Additionally, I have changed the oil/filter myself 4 times. Everytime, I
did it, it was on the center stand. I check the oil level on the
centerstand and always make sure it is slightly below the top mark. I
wasn't aware that this should be done with both wheels on the ground. The
oil light has never come on, it has always run like a top. Should I be
worried?????

Thanks,

SR
