Re: EMS question

This sounds like a variation on a symptom that many of us have experienced.
When this kind of thing happens, turn the key completely off, wait a few
seconds, then turn the key on, and (some will say) wait till the fuel pump
primes (that whining sound that lasts about 5 seconds) before hitting the
starter. Many will also say never to stop the engine with the killswitch
(unless it's an emergency of course) as this will upset the computer as well
(apparently it saves some settings after you turn the key off). I concure.
I have never used the killswitch to stop the engine, but I still had the
problem several times. It happened during the first month or two after I
got the bike but it hasn't happened since. It was always after a short
stop. Later tunes for the EFI may eliminate the problem too, but I'm not
convinced that it is involved. All I know is that mine seems to be fine
now. And I doubt very much if there's been any damage. However I'd be a
little concerned about how you were able to turn the key off (almost) with
the bike continuing to run. That sounds more like an ignition switch
problem that you should, at a minimum, report to your dealer.
