alternate heated grip queries

hi --

a couple of questions about heated grips:

my dealer pointed out that if i want to install the accessory outlet,
that the wiring is already in place. is the same true for the grips?
i'm not referring to the wires out to the grips themselves -- i can
see from the picture of the kit that there's way too much wiring
included for that to be the case -- but is there a switched,
relatively high-current connector available to tap into for power?
or would one have to tap into existing wiring?

i ask because on my other bike i've used Kimpex grip heaters, which
are thin wraps that go on the bars underneath your existing grips.
they're very nice, and quite inexpensive: about $20. it's not quite
a no-brainer to install them, since the kit is set up for snowmobiles,
but i may use them on the RS since i'm familiar with them.

along those lines -- is the throttle sleeve on the RS/ST a smooth
cylinder? on the suzuki it was splined to mate with the inside of the
suzuki grips -- those splines had to be trimmed to accomodate the
Kimpex heater wraps. not a big deal, but just one more impediment if
i wanted to put them on the RS.
