My ST was that way for almost 1200 miles, then eased up considerably.
By coincidence (or not) it got much better about the time I started
doing a lot of short trips (commuting 3 miles each way) around town
where I exercised the 1st-to-2nd shift much more frequently. Prior to
that I had been putting on break-in miles on longer, faster trips which
had exercised all the other changes much more.

My suggestion: spend a weekend riding around at low-speed shifting
between 1st and 2nd if you want to get over it quickly. But it will be
very painful!

My wife (hasn't yet graduated to a Triumph, but will as soon as we can
afford one for her) had her eye on that one I think. ;-) But if you
really want it, go ahead.
