Hydrocrack I haven't heard of. The really good motorcycle oils
Motorex, Motul, Silkolene, and I'm sure a couple I've missed offer
full Ester based synthetics. Mobil 1 , Castrol, Quakerstate etc are
PAO based. PAO's are petroleum based. Ester based are truly
synthetic, the base stocks having no petroleum. All of the better
bike specific oils have additive packages designed for bikes. Higher
amounts of zinc are only one of the additives that these motorcycles
specfic oils have. Remember we also for the most part have wet clutch
and gear boxes that share the same oil as the engine, unlike cages
and BMW's so we need different additives than cars. As for what to
use. Well Triumph branded Mobil 1 is very good. Motorex Power Synth
4T is a full Ester based synthetic, it's what I use. Motul 300V is a
full Ester based synthetic. Can't remember which Silkolene is full
Ester synthetic.
