<grin> I hear ya! Unfortunately, most of our gas taxes go into a big
general fund and get spent on other things. Oregon, to my knowledge, is
the only state that puts 100% of the gas tax money it collects into road
construction and maintenance.

Matt, I think all the things you do to conserve gas are great. I also
believe that the "gas boycott" is pretty silly and ineffectual.
Unfortunately, there's a significant portion of this country's
population that can't take advantage of many of the gas conservation
techniques you employ. Outside of a dense urban area, human-powered
transportation is impractical. Most folks in the American Heartland rely
on pickups and other large vehicles to move lots of stuff around on a
continual basis. It's miles from "here" to "there," where "there" could
be the nearest neighbor's house. Unfortunately, these folks generally
aren't real well-to-do, either. (There sure aren't many (any?) Starbucks
in Kansas!)

Just the other side of the coin...
