RE: Rally

Hi Gang,
Yes, I too made it home (Cleveland) unscathed and uncited. Don't know
how after 600 miles in 9 hours. Thanks to all who organized it! A real
pleasure to see this much enthusiasm from a bunch of riders of the same
bikes. Thanks to Jamie for picking the longest friggin' possible route
for Saturday's ride- 360 miles. Wasn't the chosen route long enough?
Fiestiest pillion I ever met. I guess we were starting to make people
nervous as to our whereabouts come 9:00pm. (It was bad enough she's the
last one to wake up in the morning and holding us all up and delaying
our departure;^) Speaking of Jamie, the rest of you missed a hell of a
display by her copilot, Eric, at the helm of that ST. I never had so
much fun following anybody 2 up. Erik Miner was kind enough to let me
demo his ST with Race Tech and Ohlins suspension. Thanks, Eric. All I
have to say is: WOW! What a difference! No more nose dive and no more
sqirrelly behavior in the corners. The front end also has minimum
standing up while braking mid corner as well. I love it. My order is
going in straight away. The stock setup really is crap for aggressive
riding. BTW, Eric, what spring rate did you have up front? ( You knew
I was gonna ask you sooner or later.) All in all, a great bunch of
folks to ride and party with. Thanks to all who attended.

PS: nice riding with you guys: Erik (ST with the sweeeet suspenders),
Eric and Jamie (the dynamic duo), Paul (nice Daytona 12- I want that
too), Bill (doggone tired), Tom (future convert- we'll forgive the zx9
this time), and I forgot the last guy's name- I suck... sorry.

Hey, TOA: Thanks for attending. It was nice to see some support from
Peachtree. I could be wrong but I'd bet there aren't a lot of clubs out
there that can say they had anybody from national headquarters show up
to their rally, let alone one of only 50 attendees. Thanks for the hat,
Jerry!

Thanks to Dennis T. for letting me share a bed, oops, I mean "room" for
the weekend. It's still our secret, Dennis.

Jonathan West
99' ST (the squirrel for now)

BTW: Hocking Hills, OH is a great place to ride and have a Rally.
Plenty to do and ride. Roads are incredible. Just a thought for next
year.... hey, Erik M. asked, so there you go. I'll be going back down
in September cuz its just a cool place to go once a year. Anybody want
to check it out, let me know.
