Was Santa good to you too?

The Flowers' household had a wonderful motorcycle Christmas. It started
with our daughter running in to tell us that Santa had brought the helmet
she had asked for. It is a good thing Santa has connections, because poor
old Dad feels like he had run around to every shop in the Tampa Bay area
looking for the right color in the right size -- they were all sold out of
what she wanted.

In my stocking I found a set of tire valve closures with the Triumph logo
(nice touch!) and a throttle rocker. Santa left a throttle rocker for my
wife, too. That should make those long family rides a bit more comfortable.
Willemina also found a handlebar clipon compass and some 3M reflective tape.

Later (after breakfast), among my presents I found a wonderful pair of
high-gauntlet, thinsulate lined leather riding gloves from my parents. Our
son gave me a Triumph backpack that will certainly come in handy. Our
daughter gave me a Dowco helmet bag to keep my brand new helmet (replaced by
insurance because of the crash) looking that way.

My wife game me a pair of Draggin Jeans (kevlar reinforced denim -- she took
the hint from my recent crash I guess), the neatest little electronic tire
pressure gauge, a Wee Willy (visor cleaning kit -- no jokes please!), Vee
Wipes (rubber squeegee thingy that slips on over your left index finger or
thumb to keep your visor clear in rain or mist), a clipon handlebar
thermometer and the matching clipon compass, just like Santa left in my
wife's stocking. Now neither of us has to tell the other where to go. ;-)

Willemina got similar unlined pair of riding gloves from my parents. She
also got seperate glove liners (like thin gloves but very warm). This way
she can wear them lined or not. From me she got yet another pair of
thinsulate lined riding gloves! She's going to exchange them for some warm
weather gloves then she'll be all set.

The grand finale was my wife dropping a very large object in my lap. It was
all wrapped in foam paper packing material. It turned out to be my long
awaited pannier set! I think my wife and the shop conspired to keep them
hidden from me. Now my bike will be complete ... just as soon as the shop
opens after New Year and I get the luggage installed.

Anyway, as I sit here entering this message and contemplating exactly how
much I've had to eat today (I'm sure a 3rd helping of plum pudding and
custard sauce woudn't hurt ... would it?) I'm thinking of how lucky I am.
And what a wonderful wife I have. And I'm wondering if it'll be warm enough
tomorrow for the entire family to don our helmets and go for a ride. :-) I
sure hope so!

I (we) hope that this Christmas finds you all healthy and happy, and that
Santa was generous to you also. Merry Christmas!
