Virus warning
- Subject: Virus warning

As I have just intercepted 3 emails containing a virus that were sent to
the list (from 3 different people), I figured that I would put the
following warning out. There are many new virus variants floating around,
with more predicted before the end of the year. Three common worms are, the
Happy 99.exe worm, the Pretty park.exe worm, and the new Mypics
(pics4you.exe) worm. All these function in much the same way, by infecting
your machine after being executed, and then emailing copies of itself to
others in the address book. If you receive an exe based file as an
attachment (even from someone you know) your best bet is to simply delete
the file. Hopefully with the safeguards I have added to majordomo (the mail
list software) you should not see a virus come across the ST list anymore,
but as the virus definitions are constantly changing, I am not going to say
that there is no way for one to get through.
Bottom line is just to just say no to exe ;-)
